The campaign is over but the experience , the memories and the great friendships we made a long the way will last a lifetime. Thank you all for your support, prayers and financial contributions. I feel as though my family grew by about 10, 000 people this past year! We loved all your messages, emails and cards. One of our great supporters wrote a short email to Rob which made my heart swell. He said ” I would rather lose with you , than win with a candidate I couldn’t be proud of!” At the end of the day, we are proud of the clean campaign we ran, staying above the muck and mudslinging. Rather than highlight the faults of others, we choose to promote our positive message and ideas. We may have paid a price for that but it was well worth it.

Please know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers. We just got back from Worlds of Fun amusement park with the children today and we are headed to the beach for some much needed family time and relaxation (that will definitely involve drinking something fruity out of a coconut shell!) We will catch back up with all of you in the fall. God bless you all!

more cousins arrive!

I was so happy to pick up my niece and nephew at the airport yesterday after their first plane trip on their own ( ie. without an adult.) We went from there to the Exploration museum. We spent most of our time in the, rightly named, ”Grossology” exhibit but we also made time to try our hand at milking fake cows and experiencing a tornado inside a simulator. All in all , a great first day for them in Kansas!

In other news, Rob started his two week bus/rv tour on tuesday called ”Jobs, Vision and Values, Road to Victory Tour.” It will be heading to a town near you soon! So far the stops have been going great! I will post updates from the road as soon as possible. The tour already made front page of the Emporia Gazette yesterday.

Augustine turns 10!

Busy day yesterday! I took Francesca to her friend Grace’s house for her first tea party in the morning and took a van full of boys out for Augustine’s brithday in the afternoon. I fed all the children dinner and then Rob, Austin, Billy and I had supper at the Grand Central.

Camp Wood 2010

While Rob and the big boys were busy campaigning, my sister and her family went with me to Camp Wood in Elmdale this past week. The children had a great “camp experience” and learned lots of new skills, thanks to the awesome staff and counselors.

Reinforcements have started to arrive from near and far! The Wasinger campaign was extremely well represented both in Hays and in Hutchinson this weekend, thanks to visiting family, friends and of course, our always dependable campaign team and volunteers. Thanks Guys!! We had over double the showing than any of our opponents and several times when Rob was shaking hands, people told him that he already had their vote!

4H trip to Abilene

4H-hers traveled to Abilene this month for a visit to Dwight D Eisenhower museum and library for their educational field trip. A great time was had by all thanks to Janet, Mike, and Trey for their planning and driving.

Anyone looking for a good deal on children’s clothing will be thankful for my fashion post. Gymboree has opened a store with a more affordable line of children’s clothing.. I just wish the sizes went a little higher for my growing babes.

Important campaign stop and a nap

Well, the children and I have been helping dad this week in the field. The thing about such young volunteers is that it is essential to mix work with fun! I think my children have visited every public park and sweets shop in the first district. Casey (a.k.a. Elvis), one of the many Team Wasinger members, came along in the 15 passenger van with us as we deployed to three different towns. I think Francesca was smitten by his big bright smile as she very unwillingly let go his hand in the ice cream shop!

After a long day of campaigning Dad took a nap on the couch with his favorite one year old!

A visit with friends

Our good friends and their five children stopped by for lunch on their move to Colorado. The children had a great time playing with each other. We wish them well on their new adventure at the Air Force Academy.
